Connor
had his very first Halloween this past weekend and scored lots of candy
for Mommy and Daddy. He was a very cute froggy, which made sense
considering how he likes to leap and jump all over the joint. It also
made sense, since it was the only costume left at the store in his size
the night before Halloween that was reasonably warm for a baby to wear
out and about.
His first trick-or-treat was to Aunt Julie’s. I must say the he was
not all that happy to be going, since we woke him up from a really good
nap that he was taking in the car. Plus, we made him put his hat back
on. He really hated the hat and took it off every time we got back into
the car. He’s getting a little too smart.
So
he got a book as his “treat” from Aunt Julie’s. Just as he was starting
to have some fun, we made him get back in the car and go someplace
else. He let us know just how rotten we were by screaming at the top of
his lungs until we reached out next destination and flinging the
aforementioned hat across the car. We then went to Carla’s and just as
he was having fun there, we made him get back into the car again. He
was not happy.
Then we went to the church for trunk or treat. After we got his hat
back on, we took him around and everyone oohed and aahed at the little
froggy. He was particularly fascinated with the Consumers Energy truck
that a church member brought due to the flashing light at the top. That
and the clown car which had flashing lights and spinning things all
over it. Then, to top off the evening, being the horrible, wretched
parents that we were - we put him back in the car and made him stay there all the way home. He filed many complaints.
This
weekend also brought about the almost-went-to-the-emergency-room
injury. He’s been injured before. Being a boy, he bonks his head
probably 10 times a day, at a minimum. Because he has no fear,
and thinks he can do thinks, like say, walk without holding on to
something. While attempting this again on Saturday, he proceeded to
fall face first into our entertainment center, which scored him a
lovely bump and bruise on his head. He fell about four more times in
the next hour, but only one monster bruise. I tried to take a picture
of it. You can barely see it in the upper right hand corner. So our
child is getting extremely mobile, daring, and dangerous. But he’s not
selfish in causing injuries - oh no, he will inflict harm on you as
well. I can’t tell you how many times a day I get tackled, my hair gets
yanked out by its roots, or his teeth just happen to get in the way
when he’s giving you slobbering kisses. He’s such a boy!
